Education

We help people of all ages locally to explore answers to their questions about climate change, making sense of where we are and solutions to transition society to positive futures. We do this through respectful face to face conversations, and have also delivered talks and exhibitions on a variety of topics. We recommend reading and resources available at Nailsworth Library and on-line sources.

How to talk about climate change

People often find it hard to talk about climate change, as it has in the past been very contentious, or can seem very technical and only for experts. But as Gaia Vince says “Climate change is everything change”. It concerns what we eat, how we travel, and everything you can think of. So it must be something that everyone can have a say in.

Today, the great majority of the population accepts the scientific case for urgent action.

We want to help those who would like to increase their confidence in discussing climate change. Here, you will find trustworthy references and plain English counter-arguments to some of the myths surrounding this topic.

Resources and sources

For those that would like to dig deeper, there are many great trusted resources out there to help you explore issues and solutions.

Climate Corner

Climate Corner is a collaboration between Nailsworth Climate Action Network and Nailsworth Library, which was shortlisted for the David Vaisey Prize in 2022.

Climate Corner promotes a diversity of reading and resources, and is accompanied by exhibitions on topics such as retrofit.

On the first Friday of every month, between 10.30am and 12.30pm, Dr Richard Erskine - who is Education Lead of NailsworthCAN - is available for individuals or small groups to answer questions and engage in dialogue.

Whether it is to understand the basics or to explore more complex questions, this is an opportunity to have a conversation in the spirit of enquiry and discovery.
